I am new and although usually able to learn things quickly and easily am feeling really frustrated and overwhelmed. I've stepped away from this several times and am just not making much progress.
<P>
I have a wordpress.org blog<P>
I have dreamhost for my host<P>
I have uploaded themes I created in Artisteer in the wp theme folder along with all the ones that came with wp<P>
They don't show up anywhere<P>
I have tried to upload them to wordpress directly and get this message:
<P>
The following theme tags are not allowed:
- fixed width
- right sidebar
- two columns
- valid XHTML
- widgets
<P>See http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/about/ for a complete list of approved theme tags.
<P>
I tried to go in to the .css file and edit how these tags are listed so they are formatted properly (fixed-width, right-sidebar, etc.)
It won't let me save it in the theme folder
<P>
AHHHHHH ! I see all these posts about seemless and easy themes that have been created and then uploaded to wordpress. What am I missing? Can anyone help me please?

Have you ever uploaded other themes to your site? Did you activate the theme once uploaded?

You seem to be describing confusion surrounding wordpress and not Artisteer, but maybe there are more details that would help explain the issue.

It could also be a problem with the hosting environment. You may want to set up a test server on your PC. You can use a WAMP server for this, then install WP on it (try www.wampserver.com) to test out your theme and verify if it is the template that is broken.

Michelle:

1. What version of Wordpress?
2. Did you upload it or is it partof a 'control panel' set of programs?
3. Did you set it up and install it?
4. Do you see ANY themes at all, anywhere? Open up the admin page, look for DESIGN, then THEMES
If all else fails, give us the URL..

Email me the admin login at info AT stuntmusic DOT com and I'll take a minute to look.

How did you save the files. Sometimes the files are saved in sub folders, i.e., c:/yourcomputer/theme/theme - instead of c:/yourcomputer/theme - check the file folder where you uploaded and see if you have a 2nd folder named the same thing with the files in it. This happens alot when you save Wordpress themes and plugins. If you see that the file is really embedded within a file, just recopy the one folder.
