I want to buy the program.
I would like to know if the duration of the license is one year or if the license is valid for ever.

You own the license forever.
Upgrades are free for a year.

As far as I understand from the FAQ:

all users have free product updates and upgrades for 1 year. After this free 1 year upgrade period expires you can continue using Artisteer without further updates, or purchase another year of updates.
So it looks like the license is not limited to 1 year and you can continue using it as long as you wish. You will only have to pay if you want to upgrade your Artisteer to a new cooler/better version after 1 year period expires.

This post made me curious about their policy on this since I plan on testing the program out this week. I checked their FAQ's which state that you can update your license after one year at a 50% reduction in price. So if you buy the standard edition at $129.99 you can then update it at $65.00...not too bad of a deal there I suppose.
