Does your template name have spaces in it? I had a problem with that.

cause it's easier to install a package directly from the joomla admin, than to open an ftp software ...
Don't like to have installation bug, I'm always afraid it could hide others problems in my configuration.
Hope it will work when final version comes out, so I can buy it.

You should send this issue to them with a full description and the ZIP file in question.

is there a logical reason to offer the zip feature when its buggy ?

I asked if there was a logical reason for using a zip file.

Occasionally, sometimes in the forum, people do things that might not be necessary, like zipping up a file and putting that into a theme directory.

I was asking if there was a legitimate reason for zipping up the file, such as a limitation imposed by the system administrator or hosting service or IT department.

Whether it's buggy or not remains with the support people at Artisteer.

Marc Smith,

I am having the same problem with my demo of Artisteer 2. The work around is nice, but does not solve the problem for Joomla users. Zip files are the primary way the Joomla community distributes templates and updates.

How do you manually install without using the zip? Where do you put the folder that Artisteer creates?

Can i only use maked Joomla 1.5.9 Templates with Artisteer by upload the Order in FTP, and no upload the zip File in my Joomla Admin ??

I am angry, because i have bought the Software, and now it makes problems.

Sorry my english is not so well.

Contact support@artisteer.com directly

However, having said that, try uploading the theme without zipping it up. Use Joomla's instructions on how to do it. You want to remove as many possible things that can go wrong as possible. A zip file incorrectly transferred via FTP can fail.

Skip the ZIP!

hi folks, i bought artisteer and it does not work.
i´m very unhappy about and i like to have my money back!
this software is a shame for the money!!!

upload does not work, (unable to write entry)
block layout is padding 0 instead of my entrees and so on and so on.
i use joomla1.5.10.

as layouter i know joomla from the beginning.
seems that it´s better to create styles without this (sorry) childrenbullshit.

by the way, i handcode my layouts by myself and optimize them.
(mootools, js compression and css optimization)
so that first siteloadings are never above 4 seconds.

the issue is with the XML file. If you are using joomla 1.0.15 go into the XML of the artiseer created template called templateDetails.xml and replace the <install> and the </install> tags with <mosinstall> and </mosinstall> then upload the template to the older version of joomla.

I hope someone can help me out here.

I'm sorta new to joomla. I finally got my Artisteer template to install but when I try to set it as my default template and try to preview my homepage it just says, "Restricted Access". If I set any of the other Joomla templates to default they work fine. Its just my Artisteer template. Does any one know why its doing this? Please someone help!!

It seems to be a permissions issue, check for permissions with an FTP or from your hosting panel.

I'm new to this stuff, so excuse me if I'm off. Had the same "Error! Could not find an XML setup file in the package" when trying to upload a newly created template in Joomla from the zipped file created by Artisteer. I realized I didn't read the instructions enough. I was clicking on the "Export" button without clicking on the "Template" button right to its left. Selecting Joomla in the drop down menu of the "Template" button enables the "Export" button which changes color. I then clicked on "Export" and voilà everything was OK. I was able to upload the template no prob. Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd did not understand what you meant. I thought I chose the way it should be exported when I started making the model. Thanks to you I realized that I had to choose joomla again and then export the joomla. Now it works great

It seems like Lloyd was exporting the template/theme for HTML instead of Joomla.

SOLVED for Artisteer 2.3.0

You need to specify that the template is for a Joomla CMS. If the Export pull down doesn't give you the choice between Joomla template and HTML, you haven't specified it yet.

In the IDEAS tab, go to the Export Box at the end of the line, be sure to click the Template pull down next to the Export pull down. Then Select the Joomla CMS button. Now select the Export,,,as zip.,.. and upload it.

If you don't do this, Artisteer won't create the XML and other necessary files. Why this isn't in the docs is a good question. When I didn't do this the exported file was 154 k. When I selected the Joomla CMS, the file jumped to 237 k and had all the necessary supporting files.

Works perfectly if you follow these steps.

@ Qba,

There is no need to change anything, try installing your template as it is.

i found the solution :
After many experimentens I finally found a solution for my installing problem.

" ERROR: Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package. "

Do like a normal template export to a directory and edit the XML file.
Change the <install> to <mosinstall> and </install> to </mosinstall>.

Then zip and install.
