I have exported my Joomla template, installed it via ftp into the Templates folder, it shows up in Template Manager, but I am unable to make it the default template. When I check the box and click Default, the page refreshes and there isn't a star next to the template name indicating that it is the default template. When I go to the Preview of the site, the pre-installed template rhuk_milkyway is the template for my site.

When I try to edit the template I get this error "Template %s not found".

I noticed that the params.ini file is blank with the artisteer template and not with purchased templates, but I don't know what is supposed to be in this file for Artisteer.

Any help here or is this just a Beta bug? Looks like others have been able to install templates so I'm not sure. I'm using Joomla 1.5.9, just upgraded from the previous 1.5.x thinking that might help but it doesn't.

Thanks

So this problem only appears to be on this specific template that I have edited. The other templates created with "suggest a design" work fine. The template that does not work is one that I went to each tab and changed the template up to my liking. So I guess altering the template is not possible in beta, unless it is one specific tab that isn't working....I don't have a clue.

Becky,
you can edit and create your own templates using Beta and many users have built templates without a problem.
The issue seems to be related to your specific template. I suppose that you can email it to Artisteer support for review.

Had the same issue... pulled my hair out.
uninstall the artisiteer template from joomla--their mnight be several instances if you tried repetatedly... get rid of them all
take ALL spaces out of the folder name and match the name inside XML files
re upload via FTP
choose as default
it worked for me
