Here ya go this is what I get when I start the latest version of 2.0 along with the fact tht none of the buttons show what they are as there is no text displayed on them.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

I just bought the latest version for a wintel machine running Vista; the demo worked fine but then upon activation I got the same error. After a couple days with no customer support, I found the answer myself.
Go to settings 'Internet options', 'Advanced' tab, 'Browsing' section. Mark ‘Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)’. If that doesn’t fix it, perhaps altering some registry keys will (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsdebug/thread/a52eb0ae-bcd8-4043-9661-d5fc3aa5167c).

Share in my hours of pain: It turns out it is not an IE script debugging issue after all. On my machine anyway, when the shortcut icon is set to "Maximized" it crashes. Try setting it to the default value of "Normal window".
