Hi, Amanda,

Sounds like you designed a static front page in Artisteer.

In WP admin > Settings > Reading

Select "A static page (selected below)

From the drop down in Front Page select the page you made in Artisteer.

** I've assumed you had imported the content when you activated the theme.

Hi Abland,

I tried that but it didn't work : ( When I upload everything into WP, it gets rid of the pages I made and my front page.

Here's the before in Artisteer (I worked on this template and kept the page you see below):

Yet when I export it as a WP template and check only zip archive and install it into WP and then I get this:

The preview in WP dashboard is the way it's supposed to be. Yet when I upload the theme, it doesn't take any of the pages with it or the front page I designed. It only gives me the option to set pages I add into WP itself as the landing page. I've even tried exporting it including the content and that gives me the same look. Sometimes, it screws up everything and adds in more than one template.

So I'm not sure where I'm messing up and why it removes that front page, menus, texts and images when I install it into WP.

Hi, Amanda,

You would need to include content when publishing the theme from Artisteer.

When you add the theme and activate in Wordpress there should be an alert available asking if you want to add or replace content.

I think how it works is, Add imports content in addition to what's already on your site.

Once you do that, then check the site settings to make sure front page is set and that widgets are where they're supposed to be.

Interesting - mine doesn't ask me that, it shows:

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

Theme installed successfully.

Live Preview | Activate | Return to Themes page

Is this an issue with my version of WP?

Hi, Amanda,

Did you activate the theme? It should show you the options then.

Oh wow.

Abland, you are amazing! Hahaha, I don't know how many times I just clicked "live preview". I was beginning to lose hope. Something so silly! Thank you!

When I install the theme it activates automatically. But I don't get the options you mention, Abland. What do I do wrong?

Hi, Hanne,

I'm unsure why it activated automatically - are you upgrading an existing theme?

Did you export the content with your theme from Artisteer? If yes, then in WordPress try activating the default theme, then reactivate your theme to see if the options present.

Hi Abland.
When I zip til Artisteer-file I also include the Artx.project. From my WP site I upload the new zipped file, which unzip and installs automatically. Even if here are existing WP themes on the same site the new theme automatically replaces the old theme.

I have tried to activate the default theme, as you suggested. After that I reactivated my theme, but nothing happens. Where excactly will the options appear?
I tried to insert a screen shot in this form (like Amanda did), but this wouln't work. :-)

Maybe WP needs a special plugin installed?

Hi, Hanne,

Be sure you include the content, too, when exporting.

Quote Maritha:
When you export your theme to wordpress, make sure you tick the box include content. WHen you add your theme to WP you can see a yellow bar at the top - add content. Click that and all your content and pages will be added to your theme.

Click the box: Include Content

Hi Abland.
Where do I find this box? Maybe I do something wrong - or maybe it is because I work on a Mac. Anyway. This is what I do:
First I choose Export, and then I choose publish to Local/Ftp. I give the folder a name and choose WordPress template, I click the 2 boxes: 'ZIP archive' and 'Include the *.ARTX project' and save the project.
But in fact only the template.
My 'server-man' has analysed the zip file and find only design there, no data.

Bingo! :-)

I am pretty sure the latest Mac version has this feature/functionality.

I have also problem with uploading a theme with Artisteer 4. I did everything that was suggested above but it seems I can only upload a theme to some extent. Only menus and background image. All other images, pages and content are not uploaded. In the image that shows preview (not live preview mind you, but where the theme is listed) everything seems ok but when I activate it and save it almost all of the content is missing. Does anyone know could lie a problem?

@ Marko

Make sure you have exported the content with the theme and have imported from your WP admin

Marko: i had exactly the same problem with Artisteer 4.1 and the only solution was to come back to 4.0 version. Remember to apply the solution supplied by richard in this post:

I'm having a similar problem. I am uploading the zipped Artisteer theme, with content/pages/images, into Wordpress, but only the images (no pages) appear.

- Yes, I included content in the Artisteer export
- Yes, I activated the theme.
- Yes, I have created several web sites with Artisteer (in fact, I just launched another Artisteer Wordpress site earlier today, and didn't experience this problem)

I get the yellow bar asking, "Do you want to add content?" and I have tried clicking both the "Add Content" and the "Replace imported Content" options, but only the images are imported.

My suspicion is that I'm doing something stupid here. :-) Anyone know what's going on?

Hello,
I have a really annoying problem.

I exported the first time as wordpress theme with content. Had the yellow box with option to add content.
Then I reverted the theme to the under construction one I had made, deleted all pages imported and continued working on the theme in artisteer.

Now that I have it complete, when I activate it I see nowhere the yellow box to add or replace content.

What can I do?

I got the same problem that after activate the wordpress theme there was no ADD CONTENT bar appeared.

I repeated the process but same result.

I re-install Wordpress and the problem was solved...

Hope your problem is over.....

Hello,
Some plugins block content import.
Please try to disable all plugins and re-install the theme under a different name.

Hey Everyone,

The solution Tina proposed worked for me as I'm having the same issue with 'add or replace content'.

I had to deactivate all plugins for it to pop up. Wondering if there is a better way for this??

Hello I think I have the same issue and tried all these things that are posted. I upgraded to the 4.2 version and took care of most of the recent problems with the old version.
I still have a problem on uploading, I added a new block into Artisteer and put content into the block I uploaded to Word Press but the new block will not show on the site however I see the new block in the them image on word press after uploading
Any ideas on this I tried tech support but not will not respond for help very upset with tech support.

Hi Raymond,
first of all make sure that you imported content after activating theme created with Artisteer 4.2.

As for support cases, I've just checked the support system and I see that your case is answered.
I apologize for delay in response in support.

Hi Kosta,

Do you mean that you made some images and text linkable in Artisteer, but after activating that theme and importing content, the links have been lost?
Could you please contact Artisteer Support with your .artx project and link to your website showing the issue - http://www.artisteer.com/?p=support

Thanks!

Best regards,
Elvira
