Your product is FANTASTIC as is, no doubt about it, but I couldn't agree more that an Import feature would be indispensable. I spend a lot of time tweaking templates that clients find online that are "almost right". Allowing users to modify other 3rd party templates would take Artisteer to a whole new level of usefulness (and value).

Like Michael said, this idea would be fairly complex to code, but the benefits would give Artisteer a lot more day-to-day functionality (and marketing sales points). I presume that importing a Wordpress template would be much easier to implement than importing HTML-and-CSS combos since, with the Wordpress template, there would be zero content involved and fewer layout variables to contend with.

I'll even go so far as to say that I'd be willing to pay a bit extra for an Artisteer "ProPlus" version that had this Import Tool and I believe that many others would also find it to be of enormous value.

Here Here!!! In total agreement

Michael,

If you want to be condescending to me just because I am making valid points as to what adding a feature might entail, go right ahead. You don't need to send your ideas to me for approval.

So, let's turn it this way.

How much would you pay to have that particular feature? $250? $350? And how many "developers" would use that same features verses the number of casual users who would not?

How many of the casual users would be priced out of the product at $250?

I didn't say the idea was not good. I didn't say it WAS good. All I said is that when considering feature sets for a product that interacts with other technologies and has dependencies on those technologies, you are talking about development and licensing costs that *may* be cost prohibitive.
