How can I set up the template so the page content goes on a 100% fluid width but the header area and it elements are contained within an area that is a max-width of 1000px

So set your template up at 100% or whatever % you wish.
The make sure the header is positioned outside of the sheet.
Then go to the export>>options>>css options and add this:
.art-header {
width:1000px!important;
}
You can adjust elements etc.
I can post images if needed.

Thanks for your helpful information.
I want to create a wordpress theme and the header exactly this website,
it "find us on facebook" and "chinese booking" are have orange color and
fixed in the top position.
Would you please teach me how can I do this with artisteer software,
I used 4.3 version.
