How alive is Artisteer?

Hi,

Was just wondering, just bought the standard edition, and right now as some-one who doesn't make websites for a living, it was a bit of a big buck. But I've liked the trial version so went for it.

But, how alive is it? Any updates coming soon? Any new significant functions to be implemented/planned? Would love to hear some positive vibes about Artisteer. :)

And, any webdev's out there who can show a bit of work they delivered to a client? Or their own commercial/personal website? I always like to get in touch with skilled people.

Kind regards,
Steven

Have you worked with both? I've only used Artisteer so far... read it has the potential but it still isn't there yet.

It would be good to get some sort of update on Artisteer.

Has development now ceased?

My understanding is, they continue to update the export plugins with issues reported by users but don't have any news of any updates near term for the overall program.

My guess is nothing really happening right now.

Wonder if there's a group of users wanting to get together and create plugins to enhance artisteer?

Interesting idea.

I use Artisteer for Wordpress templates and for responsive HTML sites.

I've looked around at all of the alternatives for making an HTML responsive website more easily and quickly than hand coding - nothing is as good as Artisteer. It just needs some minor additional functionality to make it really good.

Has anything happened to support?

No reply since the 19th October - 8 days. Have they closed down?

Hi Cliff,

You are talking about some ticket in the support system? In this case please provide the exact ticket number, maybe it is still under the investigation. We'll check that.

Best regards,
Tanya

I struggled with the Artisterr v Themeler thing myself. I have used Artisteer for a number of years and the only thing I miss is being able to export a template in a number of formats (eg. wrdpress, joomla, drupal, html...) from the same artx file. I have used the export to themeler function and it sucks at the moment...the dev team needed to make a few moew improvements before making it live and saying it works. That being said Themler is the way to go

Hello Daniel,
if you encounter any problem converting Artisteer project to Themler format I'd recommend that you create a new topic on Themler forum http://answers.billiondigital.com/Topic/Create?
and describe the issue in details. Themler support will help you to correct the Themler theme.

Dear Eileen

That's strange, you only answered to support Themler, while the whole thread was about Artisteer.
You even don't bother to answer whether Artisteer is Dead or not.

I think you should do it now, just use redirect feature, whenever a user visits, artisteer.com, redirect him to themler website.
That's it.
It is off no use to maintain it anymore, if you are not going to update Artisteer.

Dude, take the hint. These threads asking if Artisteer is dead are stupid.

The last update was August 27, 2014. What do you think? Artisteer IS dead. Move along.

Themler is such a mess... It installs a mysql server on your PC (you are even not asked to do so), the menu barre is having a lot of preconfigured items...

I installed it twice. First time I said 'no, I don't want that sh*t on my laptop". Then I unstalled it.
Then I reinstalled - to have an opportunity to change my mind - . It is a real sh*t...

I definitly uninstalled it without a single regret...

I went back to artisteer, easy to use, nice to have, do what you want... and do not polluate your PC with unwanted apps.

Cheers

M.

@ Moryason

You don't get why it installs the "sh*t", do you?

It's because Themler lets you do a live preview of your design right in WordPress assuming you're using WordPress. I haven't tested it with any other CMS but It's one of the best features.

I don't need to export theme, upload and activate theme to see how it's going to look and work. I can preview it directly and almost instantly and make any changes or tweaks. It's a huge time saver.

PHP + MySQL are the tool of the trade. Not sure why anyone would freak out over it. If you're any level of a web designer making CMS sites, you should have these on your computer.

so is there a viable alternative to Aristeer to building custom themes for wordpress sites quickly and easily with little or no coding? Is Themler that product???

Soory for anybody who buys thsi product anymore.... I have no idea why they stopped working on Artisteer and put all the effort into Themler which I cant get my head around and its so slow to edit. there were promises of Artisteer updates but nothing ever happened. I even paid for the update but only to discover it was the same old version from a year ago..

I use to use Artisteer all of the time way back when they even had a Mac version! I use to absolutely love Artisteer. It really sucks and is really sad to know that all of the development that has gone into getting Artisteer to this point in time is no longer being supported and expanded on. So much amazing potential! This software could have easily become the most dominant force in creating original and unique WP Themes. Anyways it was fun while it lasted :-(
