You can test each plug-in with the sample Themler theme as we could not test all the third-party plug-ins with Themler.

The documentation is spotty as you are discovering.
I'd like to know more about taking Artisteer themes and somehow being able to add Themler elements.
One of the issues I think you'll also see is finding out just how plugins will perform with themes in beta testing may not match actual use as saving/exporting/importing is a huge issue with Themler that I haven't been able to get past yet (having the work you do on a theme import into what the actual site displays).
