Custom Link menu option won't display as submenu option

I created a theme for my client and everything seems to be working well, except that she wants to link to static HTML pages from her Wordpress menu. The pages are on the same site in the root of the site.

The theme will let her add the "Custom" menu option with the link to the page as a submenu option, but the menu refuses to display it. I have been through every setting I can find, and the only thing I can think of is that the menu is constructed to ONLY display pages. My client has dozens of these static pages (one-page salesletters) and I know she'll want to add more to the menu.

How do I get the custom submenu option to display? I have the latest version of Artisteer (4.2.0.60623 Home/Academic).

We have tried creating several menus that include both Wordpress pages as submenus and external HTML pages as submenu items, and neither works. I even created a menu of all custom links, some to the Wordpress pages and some to the external HTML pages. I can't seem to get the submenus to work at all.

This theme was built with Artisteer Home & Academic Edition, v4.2.0.60623. Can you point me to the spot in the generated PHP where the submenus are controlled? Maybe I set an incorrect option somewhere, but I cannot find it. My client is losing patience, and I don't want to have to do this theme over again.

Hi,

The first thing to check is the Menu -> Levels option in Artisteer. Make sure that you do not have No Subitems option selected.

Best regards,

Already checked that: it's set to Multilevel. What's next?

Just as a follow-up on this topic, it turned out that changing the header from the built-in code to added code for a header in 3 pieces prevented the submenus from showing. I have no idea why, but when I took that custom code out and used the built-in header, the submenus reappeared.
