Is there a reason why the URL in joomla is not showing the name of the page as specified in the Artisteer template. I know how to change this in joomla but would prefer it to go through form the name I have put in artisteer.

Example, At the moment I am getting
http://deltadisplays.co.uk/ct-menu-item-5

What it should be is
http://deltadisplays.co.uk/design

Many thanks

We implemented such aliases to avoid the following problems:
1.
if Joomla site includes the page with the same name as in Artisteer project. it allows to create unique path without any possible mess;
2.
building paths which include not alphanumeric symbols.
Joomla requires alias to include limited number of possible characters which cannot be checked on Artisteer level.

How am I able to change it so that it does the URL naming which I set up in Artisteer on an export?

You can change the urls only from Joomla Back-End.
Page properties in Artisteer work only for "Website" templates.

Well all I can say is "caveat emptor". It seems to me that this software can not be used to create templates that would provide any useful SEO hits and certainly not any that could be turned over to a client to manage (see slider issues as well as these menus issues). It's really too bad because the changes to make this software more industrial strength aren't that great.
