Hi All
In Artisteer 4.2.0.60483, I just tried to export a Joomla .artx project as 'testtemplate' to a 'Test template' folder on my desktop,
I closed Artisteer, then went to re-open the project, and I got an alert box saying: 'Unable to open file. The remote server returned an error (404) Not Found.'
Hmmm...not sure if I like this...it appears that in order to export, there has to be a copy of the project on a remote server somewhere...

It appears that for Artisteer 4.2 to be able to 'find' its .artx projects, the project has to be saved before doing an export, otherwise only the .zip file is exported, even though the 'Include ARTX Project' checkbox is checked.
Looks as though the saved project is uploaded to a remote server somewhere as it's saved...then and only then, can it be re-opened in Artisteer.
As others have asked: What happens if the Artisteer server is offline, or gets hacked, or users have network problems?

Actually this has occurred today. My college and I have been trying to get our Joomla template out all day with force closes. The error log shows the remote server IP is refusing the connection. Support is looking into it:
Quote :Unfortunately it looks like there is a problem with the server and it's intermittent. Some times it works and some times it doesn't. I've reported the problem and someone is looking into it.
Best regards,
Norm W. Extensoft, Inc. / Artisteer
All I suggest is to open a ticket and post in this thread.

Back to the drawing board Extensoft. This was my greatest fear with the new anti-piracy measures.
I would have fully supported their decision but if they can't keep the servers up and running smoothly then I'll continue to use my 4.1 license and hope they wake up by the time 4.3 is released.
You had one chance and it looks like you've blown it in the first month.

I second that!
I'm a fully paid-up member (so-to-speak), always using fully licenced products from them, and whilst I can sympathise with Extensoft regarding piracy, I do NOT expect to have to wait to export a project because their servers are down.
I'm pretty 'au fait' regarding servers, running four of my own with a bevvy of WHM client accounts on them.
Get your act together Extensoft, or alternatively, set up a proper support forum which only paid-up licence-holders can access.
It really is not that difficult!
I've now re-installed v4.1.

What a concept huh?
If they were smart...
...but only the developers are smart. The managers on the other hand...
Well it's clear to see they aren't very smart...

Everything I've seen so far leads me to conclude that the piracy thing is just an excuse (and maybe a down right lie) to justify a controversial tactic.
There are so many other ways they could combat piracy and they picked the worse possible one.

So, I attempted to export a template to blogger and received the exact message (I think). "Publishing failed. The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found"
From the official response above, I suppose the answer is to just try again later? I've done everything I can from the Google end, and Artisteer is simple enough to use that I can't imagine it's user error on my part.
