Guys

I've been testing some of the issues you have mentioned as I too have had problems, and I have just sent in a support ticket to Artisteer.

I believe there seems to be an issue with the Joomla v1.2 plugin in Artisteer 4.1

When using Plugin V1.0 (uninstalling V1.2 Plugin) everything seems fine with Joomla 2.5 but if you use plugin V1.2 to create your joomla template, you lose the responsive feature and your website no longer responds to mobile devices as it should.

If you are using Joomla 3 this is what happens.
V1.0 Joomla Template plugin, does not allow you import the content in Joomla 3, as for some reason, when you click on the template in template manager, you cannot see the options to import content, they have hidden from view.
If you use V1.2 of the Joomla template plugin, then you can import your content (when it works) and additionally you still lose the responsive feature.

I've gone back to using V1.0 of the template maker and for now am sticking to Joomla 2.5.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Same problem here. Joomla 3.1 and Artisteer 4.1. Not possible to import content. Is there a manual way to do this?

Cheers,

Harm.

Ive had these problems too...
A new install of J3.1.1 will allow me to import content (once only). it certainly looks like some sort of overwrite block but too hard for me to sort.

I have reverted to Joomla 3.0 as it works ok for me. best wait til Artisteer sort it out with Joomla.

Hi Bys,
i have the same problem. Once i could import the content. After uploading a new version of my template the import button is lost. Any reasons for this?

Hi,

I had the same problem on Joomla 3.1.1

- I initially was not able to import the content (No 'Options' tab in the template properties). Upgrading the template from within Artisteer (Using the marketplace) fixed that.
- I was then able to import content the first time, but had a 500 error the second time. I ended up deleting the custom articles/categories/modules that artisteer imports; as well as emptying the trash for those areas and the import worked fine. The stuff Artisteer adds can be found in the data.xml file that it creates in the template zip file.

There is obviously something wrong, but hopefully this work-around will help somebody.

Regards,

Shaheen

You can fix it by updating the plugins in Artisteer..

Open your Artisteer. Click Export .
Then click See All > Updates (Update the plugins esp. Joomla)

Export your template and install.

Guys I had the same issue until I figured out it has to do with your HTACCESS file. you need to allow " Allow direct access, including .php files, to the template directory.
If you are like me and aren't good at working with your htaccess file then you should consider getting Admin Tools Pro. I have been using it along with Akeeba Backup on all my Joomla sites for years and love using them both. you can get both from https://www.akeebabackup.com/

I hope this helps.

Resolvi da seguinte forma:
Na administração coloquei o TEMA " Hathor - Default" e fui nas opções do meu Template, e apareceu a opção de 'importação do conteúdo'.

Resolvido.

Hi All,
I too have suffered this issue. I'm using the latest versions of Aritsteer and Joomla 3.1, fully updated. Using the advice above I was able to find the 'Import Content' button with Hathor as the administration default.

I was able to upload the template, including content once into Joomla. After making later changes to the template and installing the amended template into Joomla I receive the '500 error' when I select import content in Joomla. Permissions for the template folder are set to 0755 in my host CP.

Is there a solution to this issue without uninstalling and re-installing Joomla 3.1?

Dissappointing after having purchased the full version of Artisteer.

regards,

Vic

Open Artisteer -> Click on File in the "Menu Bar" -> Click on "Export" -> Click on "Marketplace" -> Go to "Updates"

Download the available updates, especially the joomla update.

Export your joomla template and add it. the options button should be there in your template menu.

I thought was time to weigh into this issue.

WHAT FOLLOWS IS THE RELEVANT PARTS OF THE SUPPORT TICKET I SENT ARTISTEER SUPPORT.

Activation key: ****************************

Joomla 3.1.5; It meets all the system requirements on writeable files.
Artisteer Standard 4.0.1.59861
Chrome 29.0.1547.66 m
IE 10 and 11
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Server: Linux WHM/cPanel 11.34 RHEL

I checked my server logs and the error 500 is too general to troubleshoot. Content imports once and for some reason it fails the second time even though the environment has remained the same.

Please look at my previous ticket which I closed out of frustration of not getting a solution.

I was updating site content in Artisteer and found it a convenient way to edit client's sites created in Artisteer. I was having a problem importing content with Joomla 2.5.14, so when I could not get any solution from your support, I decided not to wait any longer and closed the ticket and installed over it with a clean Joomla 3.1.5. So far so good. Import worked fine.

Today I have been making changes during the day and overwriting the content and uploaded in the steps I will elaborate in moment, and all of a sudden I get this same Error 500 message.

Nothing has changed on Joomla or on my server. Screen shot attached. So I cannot import the content. I am including the .artx file in case it is a corruption.

I gave you the Joomla admin last time but here it is again:

***********************
user: *******
Password: ***********

If you do log in and make any changes, please record any changes and advise me so I know what is done.

I have not installed any new components or plugins since import was working. Just installed Admin Tools to check the fix permissions, and they are normal for Joomla.

I did try changing the default backend Administrator template to Hathor, which now displays the import function, whereas Isis does not display the import content option for some reason.

I tried turning SEO friendly URL off and on in Global Configuration, to no avail. There is really nothing left except maybe a bug in Artisteer.

Please show this ticket to your support manager, so you can start to take this very critical issue seriously and not leave these poor forum users to speculate and make unnecessary changes to fix it themselves. I have not taken to the forum yet, because they seem to confused and trying all kinds of things like changing permissions of their template directories and files from secure 755 to 775 to even would you believe 777.

Do you have any recommendations for template file and directory permissions? Should they be applied recursively to sub directories? Can you tell what files and directories (with content) need to be uploaded so I can SFTP the files manually.

I checked my server logs and the error 500 is too general to troubleshoot.

Now here is the recreation of what I have done.

Saved template as Joomla 2.5 (it does not mention 3.x in Artisteer)
Exported zip with content.
uploaded template zip through Extensions in Joomla back end.
Changed template manager to newly uploaded template to be the default site template.
opened template
selected Artisteer from dropdown box and clicked import content
Clicked OK to overwrite content
Failed Error 500. (attached screenshot)

The zip file is 1.85Mb so it is under the file size limit for uploading templates, even though I increased the PHP file size limit.

Please LOOK AT THE .ARTX FILE.

In closing, I just do not understand how you can have such a great product and have such rotten meaningless support. It makes no business sense to build a complex product and not back up its customers.

The company should be more active and proactive on the forum. It seems customers are left to fend for themselves.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you.

O:)

SOLVED!
As a Mobile app developer, java dev and web dev, I, and most of us quite frankly were over-thinking the issue. It's quite simple. Joomla simply moved the import content feature. That's it. So where is it?

*Log in to Joomla backend
*Upload template zip file in Extensions Manager and install
*Select template (star) in Template Manager
*Look to the left: Under 'Filter' select your template
*Under 'Filter' there should be a drop-down box that says 'Select location' (if not, click your template name, it should be in blue link form)
*Then under 'Select location' select 'site'
*Then click the name of your template like you would click a link
*In 'headline' type the name of your site
*In 'blog layout type' select Artisteer
*(Select Artisteer for all the layout types)
*In content click 'Import Content from Template'
*Click 'Import' in the dialog box
*When it says 'Content is Successfully Installed' click 'Continue'

--Phew! Then go get some iced tea for a job well done!

I have had the exact same problem, but the Artisteer support team solved it.
It is very importent that you export your template in the same version as your Joomla. You can not export in Artister to Joomla version different from the version your Joomla server is running. Allso you have to include ARTX project and Content. I have purchased the new Artisteer v. 4.3.0 and updatet my Joomla to Joomla! 2.5.28 Stable. Now all is working..import button and all

Quote Victor:

I was having the same problems. I discovered that the "Import Content" button only works if I used it right after uploading my template. If I set it as default or do something else with the template BEFORE importing, then it will not work.

So, just rename your template, re-load it and Import Content before doing anything else!

THANK YOU!!! This works for me :-) :-{}
