Multiple Layouts

This sure is a commonly asked question and you'd think the people at Artisteer would add this feature.

1) From reading through the forums it seems that the majority of people say to make muliple templates (i.e., full width, 1-column, 2-column, 3-column), etc. and then save them individually but I haven't found an answer to if I do this, how do I incorporate all the templates into one site? Do I just take the individual pages that were created and then copy them all in one directory?

2) The other common answer is to use Templeteer. I don't mind buying the plugin, but I'm trying to minimize the amount of plugins I'm using so if it's possible to do this without it, I'ld like to know first.
Please help.

Hi Lisa

Templates appear as a drop-down menu choice when you are creating or editing a new wordpress page.

Whether you create your own or use the templateer your templates are available as part of your theme files and you can choose any template for any page.

speedyp,
Yes I've seen this with other themes but not with the theme I created with Artisteer. I'm trying to figure out how to create a theme to be able to have multiple layouts (a different layout on each page).

Well have you created any templates and then uploaded them to your theme files in wordpress?

Yes, I have my default theme which is full width, I then created a left column theme, right column theme and a three column theme. I took the page.php from all the new themes and then followed the instructions on http://www.artisteer.com/?post_id=193436&p=forum_post, modifying the top of all the new pages.php files by adding the template name. I now see the new pages in the dropdown menu (before there weren't any) but when I go into a page and then choose the new layout, the page does not change, show I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Are there any step-by-step instructions that are still valid for v4?

I also purchased Templateer to try and do a multi-column layout but have had absolutely nothing but errors with the program and I have filled out their contact form on their website but have yet to hear back from anyone.

Can someone please help.

Lisa - I use templateer all the time and it works well.

MOst common reason for errors on a new install is that you haven't filled in ALL the required fields for your chosen template....

I've found Bud, the developer to be very helpful and quick to reply in the past, but think he may be recovering from some kind of accident at the moment.

Also forgot to say there are so many versions of Artisteer & templateer flying around at the moment, so make sure you've downloaded and installed the correct build of templateer to match your artisteer install....

I've been using artisteer for over a year now. It's really awesome. But if they could add features like, customize number of layout on every page, pin board, article builder, contact form, 1 column slide below header even if you have multiple column layout, control on elements during responsive design view, add plugins even working on local, ecommerce...it would kill the headway. :)
