Luckily the Artisteer staff don't read the forums, otherwise they would have sued the company who developed that program!

Don't remove the branding. It's a waste of time. People can recognize a site made with Artisteer a mile away.

More bad advice from the peanut gallery. If there was an ignore button on this forum no one would see anything this guy writes. As soon as I see the name wut I know it's going to be more garbage. Wut = Worthless Unuseful Troll. Which in turns leads to useless corrupt data.

You can't handle the truth. There is a reason why these themes are not allowed on the reputable sites selling themes. :-)

Yeah leave it in so I can do a search for the keywords you left in and find all your little sites you did for all your little clients and embarras you before them. Then your clients not really knowing anything will think you are ripping them off. Sounds good huh? Ready to be exposed. If so then listen to the wut in the butt guy.

Only experience users will know what software you used to make the theme if you take it out. But if you leave it in then everyone will know and they will get the software themselves and you will be out of work.

So go ahead. Listen to wut in the butt. Your gonna get screwed!

For wordpress - before you upload your theme, open header.php and around line19 you can see the line <!-- Created by Artisteer v4.1.0.59861 -->
just change it to say <!-- Created by whoever --> I have done this and it removes it from all the pages before they are created dynamically. If you have already got your website live, Make a backup FIRST then make the changes described above and be sure to empty all caches before checking. If you have a caching program like supercache delete all the caches to ensure the change is reflected. Hope this helps

hey zulu thanks for the reply. However i usually make changes in wp after exporting. I dont know how i would do this in artisteer itself before export. please shed some light.

For the time being, I have opened up all files in wp from top down to responsive and deleted all the artisteer quotes i could find. Im not sure if this will remove all mentions though i no longer see it in the browser source file. are there any other nooks and crannies i sould look for?

Hi guys,

I tried Kris' above advice but when I try to save the css files after deleting the "Created by Artisteer" line, it says "Forbidden". What's up with that? Should I be using something other than Notepad to edit the files or what?

1

Open the Artisteer template you want to disable the footer link on. Click on the "File" button.
2

Select "Export," then "Export Options."

3

Click on "Footnote." Deselect the box next to "Include backward links to the CMS and Artisteer."
4

Click on "OK." When you export the Artisteer template for use on a site, the Artisteer link and text are no longer displayed.

Can you remove the footer "Web Template created with Artisteer" and
<!-- Created by Artisteer v4.3.0.60745 -->legally?
I can export the code so I can open it in notepad++ and take out the
<!-- Created by Artisteer v4.3.0.60745 --> but is it okay to do this?

I agree. They should take it out altogether to make their product better.
