Custom layout panes not exporting with skin |

I just got V 4. I created a custom content layout, which allows me to have as many different combinations of rows and columns as I need for my design. Problem is, is that when I view the page.ascx file after exporting, I still have the default pane setup (which has the top 1, top 2, extra 1, extra 2, etc) instead of the one I created through Artisteer. I thought this feature was supposed to allow us to create a combo of panes without making us go into the files and making our own panes. Help would be very appreciated. Thanks!
