Why are Slide Show Options greyed out on some of my templates?

The slideshow controls are greyed out because... you don't have a slideshow in the header. All you have, is an image. 1 image does not make a slideshow, you need at least 2.

So, next to the greyed controls, there is a larger button that says "New Slide". The moment you add a second image (slide), the controls will start functioning. BTW, you can do the same if you right mouse click on the header as well.

Thank you Caitlin that solved it!

I'm glad everything worked out Jacque. Caitlin as usual is correct, but what I said is also true too.

I like this new feature too, although these slideshows can balloon the template sizes by a lot. The images are transformed to png files with each image being 500-900kb each. i'm guessing they do it for transparency reasons, but if you don't have any transparency in the header for example, they should use jpg files, and if Artisteer does not optimize them (they never did with the previous versions btw), at least we could manually optimize them.

It will be fine for desktop computers, but mobile devices that use slower connection speeds, performance should be a major concern. For that reason, and that reason alone, I would implement the slideshows with external plugins for my sites, so I can control the file sizes of the images. You can optimize jpg images without losing much of the image quality, but you can't really do the same with png images. Anyone can confirm this please?

This is 100% accurate. The downside is only that without a header you can't put the menu under the slideshow. Version 3 anyway using Joomla. http://www.artisteer.com/?p=help_joomla

I too found the options grayed out despite having multiple images in the slider header. Hopefully Caitlin's solution will resolve this for me also.

I was also surprised by the use of png files, and disappointed by the comment artisteer hasn't optimized the images in previous versions.

I also noticed you can select rounded corners for the sheet, even with a fluid layout, but the header with slideshow doesn't get the rounded corner treatment.

Since I haven't seen the slideshow options yet, I can't say how flexible they'll be. If I find them too limiting I may have to integrate the anythingSlider myself which provides TONs of options. The latest version of it requires a later version of JQuery than Joomla or Artisteer uses however.

I just installed newly released 4.0, and I have the same problem as Jacque described. The Slide show controls are all grey, also the "New slide" button.
My header wasn't Sheet width, but as per Caitlins instructions I changed it to Sheet width.
But still alle Slide show buttons are greyed out! I even changed the menu line and the footer as well to be Sheet width, but none of it helped.
Am I missing something?

@ ola

Simply add slideshow in Artisteer and export the template again.

Caitlin, You are a rock star! You solved the mystery for me. I was adding multiple pictures, but that a slide show did not make! Sheet Width! That was it! Thank you so much!

Hello Jacque,

Please also note that slideshows can only be added to Sheet Width headers:

Header tab > Layout > Length > Sheet Width
