I just purchased Artisteer & Templateer (after reading the entire forum seeing it was much needed for my work).

I was just wondering if any of you had any other Add-Ons that I could consider? Or maybe even some extra color themes, or gradients you may have found?

I'll mainly be using this for Wordpress, but really any plug-ins / whatever would be useful!

I create and design websites for a living. I use artisteer a lot.

Plugins (paid ones) I use standard and work perfectly with artisteer and basicly making me able to design anything a client wants are;

Ubermenu (change menu buttons, structure and styles etc.)
http://codecanyon.net/item/ubermenu-wordpress-mega-menu-plugin/154703

Styles with shortcodes (adds lots of new functions such as galary, horizontal/vertical sliding tabs, social buttons, tooltips on hover etc.)
http://codecanyon.net/item/styles-with-shortcodes-for-wordpress/142221

Custom Widget Areas for WordPress (create unlimited number of Sidebars and be able to have each page, post have its own sidebar/widget

Hope this helps you.

@Too bad - "Too bad if you actually use templateer for a client it will instantly reveal to your clients your using artisteer. Not good for business..."

This has been discussed here before........but so what? Why would using Artisteer as a tool for building a Wordpress theme be any different than using any paid-for theme for a client's WP site? And how, exactly, is this "bad for business"?

And how does using The Templateer instantly reveal the use of Artisteer? And again.....So what?

Is using plug-ins to manipulate WP better for business?

I simply don't understand this mind-set that using Artisteer or The Templateer is, somehow, "cheating"?

By the way - Bud is about to release some brand new templates and other great features for The Templateer. Check it out in a few days when it's released. He says he's in the final testing stage and this new release will be ready very soon.

Disclaimer.......I am not an affiliate and have no financial interest in The Templateer at all. I just think it's a great add-on and tool for my business.

I would not pay someone that would do my Templat in artisteer because everyone can do it. And i know that i would get a better template for the same prices form a real Designer that can code CSS, HTML, PHP.

Anyone can make a generic layout with Artisteer but not everyone can make an awesome website with Photoshop.

Artisteer is only a foundation that you build upon. I would never use a random generated templates. Everything is customized past the point of no return. LOL

Still Artisteer is limited look at the Joomla Templates.
Why should someone pay 50€ for a Artisteer template if he gets for 60€ a professional Joomla template that doesn't look like a Webblog template.

@SuperLOL - Artisteer helps to create the basic template. It's what you do with it afterwards that makes it worth anything. I can code CSS and HTML. Not so much PHP - but I'm learning. All Artisteer does is give me the framework. It's a tool. I use Wordpress and Photoshop too - they're tools. Ditto all the many programs we use in designing.

Do you start with a blank sheet and write all your code from scratch? Kind of like reinventing the wheel, isn't it?

If it is so hard to do a template with Artisteer then there is no point to hide it if a template was made with Artisteer.

If i wanna see stupid people, i will read this topic again..

I´m using Artisteer and i haven´t seen any customer who cares about that.. There are lot of people who does not have any clue what should sites look like.. I have also made many sites with Artisteer from PS image (other designer have designed it without Artisteer)..

You can do nice looking template with Arty even without code changes if you have good eye for designs but if you are bad designer, sites look like a crap even with changing the code..

People who think using Artisteer is cheating are hilarious! Do you also think that using WP or other CMS is cheating because it is possible to code the whole system from the scratch? And using Photoshop is cheating because you can also draw with pencil?

My oppinion is that if you can use something to help your work (and make price lower without issues) it is not cheating, it is normal. And if you just wan´t to do it in hard way, please do but thats stupid!

I have had over 6t€ for one site maded with Artisteer (little customization but not much..). The main thing is that template is just a really small bit of website! Everything else is bigger.

And if you didn´t know that.. You are cheating with Artisteer, because you are doing bad sites. When i do a good website, Artisteers bit is maybe 1-5% of the site. Maybe you have´t think it but you also need to:

1. Optimize (code, SEO, Server etc.. SECURITY!)
2. Design (pictures, fonts/webfonts, colours, maybe logos, layout/layouts, modules etc..)
3. Install everything (make it to work without errors etc..)
4. Make instructions (maybe you should also give lessons)
5. Customize everything to fit in site.
6. Give/make instructions to use graphics, fonts etc.. in other media

So if you are just using Artisteer to make a template and then instal WP and template (and maybe something more), you are cheating you customer. Not by using Artisteer but telling your customer that you can do great value sites.

Artisteer won´t make you a webdesigner or anything else. It is great tool to make a blog template for your self but if your site is piece of your dayjob, then you propably need to use a real professional to make your site and design it. Then it is worth of something! It does not matter is that pro using Artisteer or something else if he/she know what is he doing!

So, it is "cheating" if you create a template with Artisteer. Even if you paid for this tool. But, it is NOT cheating if you use Joomla, WordPress or any other platform, since you have not paid for it ?
All these software ARE tools, like a hammer. Your plumber is being paid to fix your tap, doesn't s/he? but he is using a hammer and/or whatever tools s/he is using. How much do we affect of her/his tools usage? We just want to have our tap fixed and we are paying for it (IF we can NOT repair it by ourselves).
Same with a site. If you can do it by yourself, then do it. Simple and clear. If you can't, then you are paying somebody else to do it. You want a site and you are paying for it. But in the price it is included her/his knowledge, working hours spent, time for acquiring his/her knowledge, price he paid for his/her tools, etc. It is a reality that if you find extremely cheap price, then something is not clear (or you have been find the bargaing of the century - usually this is NOT the case). Just, something else is missing.

Anyone can open Artisteer and choose random designs and think they have something cool. Not many can actually create from scratch with their own custom designed layout in a graphics program, slice it to use in Artisteer and then add any special coding to make the site work and look great.

Believe me, not everyone can do it... and the ones that can... many of those can't do it well. I use Dreamweaver, hand-coding, Artisteer, Fireworks and Photoshop to create my websites... Who cares what tools I use... if I do the job and do it well... that's what matters.

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF READING SUCH IGNORANT DRIVEL!![/B] :-<

Get a grip on REALITY - the client pays for the end result / finished product. If it works and accomplishes the purpose - they really don't give two sticks as to what tool(s) were used to create it.

What you're saying is the equivalent of the client complaining because I used an Adobe product to create their site. IT'S JUST - PLAIN - FLAT - OUT - WRONG!!!!

Interesting topic.
Artisteer templates are not good enough for sale. Simply because it is too easy to create a theme with this tool.. Give me a break.
I make a living with server side scripting. But at the end I am a lousy programmer because I use tools like NuSphere, Dreamweaver and Eclipse. It just save me lots of time using these tools. But hey, a professional coder only use the notepad that comes with the OS. Right? For me, the end result counts. And the way to get there doesn’t matter. Customers do not complain if the end result is great.
And the most important thing. A template is just a tool to make content of a website attractive. If the theme is heavy weighted, changes are big the ranking results in the serps will be disappointed. I think if you use Artisteer wise, you can create a nice looking lightweight theme in no time.
I think Artisteer is a great tool, I do not say it is perfect. I know for sure the developers do their best to make it better and better.
And if someone could make a living selling their Artisteer templates, thumbs up.

Regarding the original poster's question ...
I think that Templateer is the only add-on you can (and should) purchase to lose the "Artisteer look".
The other things are done via plugins of which there are countless free and commercial versions depending on what you are doing.

I am on a Mac, use Artisteer 3 combined with Templateer and with both tools plus additional CSS scripting can get the layouts I need for my sites.

But here is the thing. Layout is not all that it's made out to be because content is king.
To create the content, I use a handfull of apps which, combined, cost less than $400.
Commercial web studios use tens of thousands of Dollars worth of software to do what I do on a shoestring budget.

Here is the best part. My needs are so specific that I can't even buy a commercial theme.
Trust me, I would if I could but the customization would be so huge that I'm better off with Artisteer than simply buying a template.

I could write a lot more about this topic but I rather make a new post on my page because Google is a hungry machine.

My main site is http://littlecomposers.com but the sub-domain http://prepiano.littlecomposers.com gets more traffic.
Everything is done with Artisteer and Templateer and Alexa rates my main site bellow 300000.

I am thankful that Artisteer exists because I could not have what I have without that tool.

Not to try and keep the hijacked thread going, but, I had to chime in on this stupidity...

First of all, I've been working in web design since 1995 and have had the opportunity to work many different tools to develop websites and I do not see using Artisteer as "cheating". Cheating what and whom?

You as a design professional have the right to utilize whatever tools you want as long as it gets the job done within the time frame and budget and the client is happy with the end result. You quote them on time and resources involved and when they accept the quote, you develop the site regardless of what tools you use. Just be sure to get it done on time and per the clients' specs.

Are you going to complain if your auto mechanic uses an online reference to fix an issue with your car? If so, get off your ass and try to fix it yourself and you will see that it isn't all about the tools that they use. Experience comes into play as well.

As a freelancer myself, I think Artisteer is a great time-saver because it helps me to be more efficient, finish projects on time, and in fact I am able to quote a certain deadline and easily hit that deadline with time to spare. I am able to take on more projects and make more money. And I actually have more time to have fun and be creative.

By using Artisteer, you aren't screwing anyone out of anything because in essence, you still have to rely on your own personal creativity to be able to produce something eye-catching and appealing. Just because someone uses Artisteer doesn't necessarily mean they are able to produce something great. Just the same as a good camera doesn't make everyone a great photographer. It is only a part of the whole process.
