Adding Banner Script within Header area |

I use a rotating php banner script on my websites and I've just created a new HTML template for one of my sites with Artisteer. I want to add my banner script to the right hand area of the header.
I first tried adding a layer in Dreamweaver, but it moves position when the browser window size is changed.
I then tried adding a new DIV line into the HTML code but that seemed to delete the whole background to the body area of the page.
I then tried adding a text block to the right of the header with artisteer, but it doesn't appear to be transparent so it is not matching the header background. In any case, I wouldn't know how or where to add my script to this area.
Even if I manage to get an area created in the right position with everything else intact and that doesn't move with the size of the browser window, will inserting the script there work without messing things up?
I'm not a coder, which is why I chose Artisteer, and I have only a basic knowledge of HTML. Can anyone give me some clues on how to get my banner where I want it?
