Any plans to add support for the new WordPress3.0 features like custom menus, background, heading graphic, custom posts and custom taxonomies in the theme generated by Artisteer.

I just used Simple Scripts to install WP on hostmonster.com. It's WP 3 beta. I tried to import a theme created with Artistseer. It failed. What to do???

I would imagine other templates are failing import as well. Looking at the WordPress development blog, there's still over 200 bugs needing fixed in the beta release.

I'm inclined to wait and see the final release before I get concerned.

I've been watching the WP 3.0 beta testers communications for a few months. They're getting closer, but there are still a lot of issues. Most probably won't get resolved until they get to 3.1 or so.

But, I sure would like Artisteer to have it's act together when 3.0 launches. We're all waiting.

I have a 3.0 test site and all themes (artisteer) imported have worked.

I also have sites running 3.0 beta with Artisteer themes and they work fine. They just don't have native support for the menu feature yet. You can still make custom menu widgets though.

I made a patch for 'menu management feature'ใ€€of WordPress3.0

you can download here..

This patch rewrite C:\Program Files\Artisteer 2\Library\Data\Templates\WordPress\Export\Files\functions.php

pray for this working normally.

I'm sorry by poor English. Because I am Japanese.

I have a site up and running with 3.0 RC2 and it is working fine. Actually installed it with 3.0 beta and since it went well I didn't go backward. Going to update to the next RC tomorrow evening. http://www.parentstakecharge.com

I have not encountered any issues with 3.0 and existing themes ( Artisteer or other ). It should for most part be backward compatible!

Could you be more specific ?
Just saying 'not working' does not give us much info to help you!

The problem with using Artisteer generated theme templates and Wordpress 3 is not that they don't work at all. They work, just like many other themes that were developed prior to Wordpress 3.

The main issue is that the Artisteer generated Wordpress themes don't take advantage of some of the powerful additional template features now available in Wordpress 3, such as the customizable menus and the expanded widgets sidebar support.

If you go to the "Menus" configuration page (under Appearance) in Wordpress 3, you immediately see the message "current theme does not natively support menus..."

Also, when you go to the Widgets, you only see the single sidebar area for dragging widgets and not the additional "Secondary Widget Area" and Footer Widget Areas.

Since many of these new Wordpress 3.0 features are focused at significantly enhancing the functionality of Wordpress as a CMS for implementing a complete website solution and not just a blogging platform, it would certainly be extremely useful for Aritsteer to add support for these new features as soon as possible.

You only need to install Wordpress 3 and use the included "Twenty Ten" theme for a few minutes (especially in the Menu and Widgets sections) to gain a true appreciation for these new features, and then quickly become disappointed when the functionality disappears when switching back to an Artisteer generated theme.

So, I think it is a very reasonable question to ask Artisteer if and when they plan to have an update available that will more fully support the new Wordpress 3.0 theme capabilities, and it is disappointing that there hasn't been much of a response yet regarding the other posts related to this issue. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Artisteer and love the product, but Wordpress 3 is a major and long awaited release, and now that so many of us are "hooked" on developing themes with the Artisteer product we hate to be left hanging with templates that aren't capable of leveraging some of the coolest features of WordPress 3.

I agree, Artiseer needs an update to fully support Wordpress 3.0. I was going to purchase this product until I found out that it is not yet updated. I will wait.

I agree. And I bough over a year ago and have tried to upgrade to 2.4 only to be told I cannot upgrade past v2.3 without paying again. That in itself is a disappointment to find I have to buy a new version every year, and now I have no incentive to buy the code again until the latest version of WP is fully supported. I love the product, but it is a pain to have to pay every year and to also be behind the curve of what is being developed that it supports.

I agree. I am stalling a couple projects waiting to see if I should just build the templates and start editing them by hand to get them working or if it is going to be soon that Artisteer will be releasing an upgrade soon... I'll give it another week... It would be nice to hear if they are going to take advantage of it and an approximate time, though.

It would be a very good addition to artisteer if it would support wordpress 3. It does support a more complex cms like joomla so i hope we can expect it soon in a new release!

I paid to renew my license, and have no issue with that. I do have issue with how Artisteer always lags behind in upgrading to meet wordpress upgrades. I do hope that Artisteer will be upgraded to easily accommodate WP 3 funtionality for style.css (like being able to specify formatting for a particular page as one can do with say ThemeHybrid).and menus.

It is great that wordpress 3 adds easy-to-adjust functionality to the navigation menu of themes that are fully compatible with the newest version of WP.

Does anyone have a step-by-step to adapt Artisteer-generated theme menu bars to Wordpress 3?

(Glad to see posters here are not kissing Artisteer A$$, in contrast to the cultish love-fest previously displayed)

The RC1 is in line for several days, so it'll be normal does offer us a script to change the navigation WP.3. The team never responds to Artisteer topic, so how dare ask a subscription for software that is never updated and no service after sale

Do not expect Artisteer to release a version 3 variant just yet, this is a first release on a major version.

Many blogs will be on older versions for a while waiting for plugins to be confirmed as working with version 3, Artisteer will have to support both versions 2 and 3 for a transitional period.

It would be a big change to the software, as the menu suite will have to support by condition both versions, version 3 also has different sidebar / content options, a dynamic footer, post thumbnail support, and the swap headers is done also using WordPress thumbnail support, but the pages including theme admin will have to be re-written to support this.

The last release mentioned 2 - 3 months for some of the changes but was not specific, I would think they are adapting the program for version 3 selective features as they still have to be aware that a lot of users will be staying with version 2 for a while yet.

Artisteer has a difficult job to maintain compatibility with multiple platforms as new updates emerge. I get it.

But that doesn't mean that their bread and butter, Wordpress users, should lay down and wait any extended period for an update to match 3.0's capabilities. Artisteer has been fully aware it's coming for enough time to be able to keep us informed of their development schedule.

But I suspect, like their most basic product and tutorial support they will be lacking. I'm hoping the are not. But people should know what to expect when they Google "is Artisteer compatible with Wordpress 3.0". Please should post publicly so the current situation is known to potential users. That might light a candle under their rear.

Thanks to those of you that have already tried it and let me know that we definitely need progress before using Artisteer theme with Wordpress 3.0.

Word is that there is a new Artisteer type program being developed for Wordpress, Joomla and some OS packages and it will support 3.0 out of the box.

So I wont be financially supporting Artisteer unless they go to 3.0 before that arrives.

I dont want to be a dick and post the link he so just google it.

Thank you that would be very helpful.

If you look carefully in the PHP calls in the Artisteer Templates, it looks for "Kubrick" which is the old default template. The new one in WP 3.0 is the "Twenty Ten" template. I am going to look at how WP 3.0 calls the default template and then just change my theme to call it the same way.

Now that doesn't take into account the plugins or what have you, but it might at least get you started?
