Drop Down Menu Question (yet another one...)

Howdy and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. The issue that I have is with creating dropdown (top menu) for Joomla 1.5 with Artisteer 2.2 Beta for Mac. I'm running it on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) and everything installed correctly. Here's the issue:

the top menu does not drop down as advertised. More specifically the gradient background that I created in artisteer for the dropdown menu is in the user3 and banner1 positions, and the actual menu tabs that I created are in the top1 position. When you click on the tab nothing happens, but when you mouse over they do highlight as per the template design. I've done the following already:

ensured that the top menu mod is in user3
checked "yes" to always show sub-menu items
re-installed joomla 1.5
re-installed artisteer
checked the css code (but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for...)
ensured that the top menu tabs are set as separators

This is what happens when I've troubleshot:
making the top menu mod a legacy horizontal list displays the tabs at abnormal widths (the first 2 are much larger than the second 2) and the sub-menus display all the time with "always show sub-menu items" checked and not at all if it is not checked (even with the mouse over the tab).

I'm totally stumped - I've checked every forum and I can't seem to find any where the top menu background takes up 3 rows instead of 1 and can't get the tabs to drop down.

Any help is much appreciated.

Have you enabled multilevel option in Artisteer while designing your template going: menu-> sub items-> level-> multi level

Yes I did - first thing I'd done. That wouldn't explain the fact that the top menu spreads over 3 rows in the user3, banner1, and the tabs are not over the gradient background but are rather in the top1 position - would it? Not sure, and haven't seen anything like this on the forums...

I can't get the multi level (superfish menu) to work either in Joomla? Hostgator or greengeeks.

Oh, figured it out. In the Top Menu module make sure you have "Always show sub-menu Items" set to "Yes". That will show the submenus since the Joomla default is "No" for the user3 position.
