Hi!
How can I view the module positions in a Joomla template created in Artisteer?

Artisteer generates following module positions in Joomla templates: http://www.artisteer.com/?p=help_joomla#joomla4

You can also check module positions available in your live template by adding /?tp=1 at the end of your URL

Hello,
I have noted the positions of the templates on the page. But all those positions are specially not accessible from the free version. If I buy the version of "Standard Edition", will I have access to all positions without having to touch the code?
Thank you in advance

The only difference between trial and activated Artisteer is that the activated version stops placing "trial" watermark allover exported templates.

So how to put new positions without having to modify the code, just with Artisteer?

Thank you in advance

Artisteer doesn't support adding new module positions to a template, but you can add or remove your sidebars.

well i saw the above link and wanted to purchase it but the answer is no to Hans' question. What is it, i'm confused, can artisteer make a template with all the module position shown in the link above or no? Thats the only thing actually that makes me reconsider buying artisteer

Chris, are you sure you've selected the Artisteer created template? This doesn't make any sense to me because when Artisteer generates the template, the "templateDetails.xml" file contains ALL the positions in: http://www.artisteer.com/?p=help_joomla#joomla4

There's no reason that the template wouldn't have all those user positions, AFAIK

@ Chris

You should contact Artisteer support if you are really getting less positions than specified.

Hello again,
Thank you.

I've contact for support and they say the same, but the following positions are written in the templateDetails.xml:

<positions>
<position>breadcrumb</position>
<position>left</position>
<position>right</position>
<position>syndicate</position>
<position>user3</position>
</positions>

Nothing more nothing less. What ever i try to do.

And i still can't export it in a zip-file, because joomla doesn't reconize the archive-file...

After installing your Artisteer generated template you should check available module positions by adding /?tp=1 at the end of your URL

I need to see if i can place an image rotator module in the place hof the header. unfortunately it seems that artisteer does not place this header image in any of the usable positions.

How can i do this, even if i need to modify the code?

If i can get this right then Artiseer will be worth the purchase.

thanks

When it will be possible for Artisteer to create all positions above I will be the first that will buy this software. Too bad ... Artisteer is great but it offers limited design posibilities... way too little positions available for editing.

I think you need to look at Artisteer as a launching pad to the final design you would like. Artisteer is fantastic at starting the design, but it can't accomplish *everything*. Instead of expecting it to do everything for you, get the design to a place where you like it and then tweak it to take it to the next stage, if what Artisteer's final output isn't good enough for you.

You state that there are "way too little positions available" which is amazing to me, because Artisteer provides so many user positions in the template OOB that I hardly ever find need to use them all. The options are very well laid out and configurable. With a little template tweaking, you can move them around a bit if you need to or even add new positions if you need to.

Granted, Artisteer helps those who don't know a lot of HTML, CSS or a little PHP, but it can't be everything to everyone for those who don't even want to learn the basics of HTML and CSS.

What does one do when they spend money on a ready-made template and the design isn't exactly what they want? I mean, a template is a template and with a little HTML and CSS, the usability of a final design is endless, no matter where it comes from.

All template positions (depicted here http://www.artisteer.com/?p=help_joomla#joomla4 ) are shown in both demo and full paid versions that I have and I'm a real novice! I hate to say this but maybe you should try a new download and reinstall to help because for sure there is something here being overlooked...

Dear Arteeser friends,
don't get confused !

Peaple here are not saying that your product doesn't have enough position modules, they are saying that the original layout,
full off VERY GOOD POSITIONS ;-) are not effective inside Joomla.
Meening that, when you change the modules positions,
you don't see them active in the expected position.
Looking inside the generated template, source, they don't seem to be used.
I have the same problem.
;-)
No offence.
Thanks for helping us.
:-)

I think you can only see the module positions on which some module is placed.

I have the same problem with modules positioning. Indeed, only user3 menu module can 'work' in Joomla. Other modules do not appear by typing ?tp=1. Is it restriction or the program bug?
The code of template containing
<div id="leftmodule">
<jdoc:include type="modules" name="left" style="xhtml"/>
</div>
but it doesn't work...

Hello. Have you enabled the module on Joomla ? I had the same problem, and I realized that it hadn't been enabled on Joomla.

Hello fellow artisteer,

@Chris, David, allexey, and all others having problems with module positions, it appears that you are using the older version of artisteer, possible 2.0,

Try getting a more recent version, i.e 2.1 or 2.2 or 2.3

Thanks

Thanx for your replies. To Enboy - I'm using the 2.2 version... your advice unfortunatelly unhelpful...
To Vassilis - look at the screenshot...

It seems all menu modules are enabled. Maybe I should enable them somewhere else?...

Made a template, created 7 content boxes (3 rows a 2x2x3 boxes)
Then i installed a template and imported content, it simply put all the content divisions inside the article

is there a way to insert a module through the joomla article editor (like f ex. widgetkit's tricks, by typing [widgetkit id=1])?

Standard Joomla practice is {loadposition positionname} in a content item to put a module position there...

You can do it by module as well, but best practice for me is to publish modules to newly made up position names and to use these unique names when making your articles. Your plugins need to be enabled for content items of course.

All of this sort of stuff is much easier to find on the Joomla forums though, seems a bit odd asking here for what is actually a base Joomla function ;-)
