Hi all!

By coincidence I found artisteer yesterday, and it seems to be really cool! I already downloaded the trial version, in order to see, if that's useful for my purposes. According to it's features, I'm already almost convinced.

I'm a graphic designer, and I mainly work with Photoshop (PSD) and with Corel Draw (CDR). I already have seen, that an uploading of own images, headers, backgrounds, etc. is supported.

Here comes my question: What is the image size , before I start with the design on PSD and CDR, I need to use for header, back ground, sheet, etc?

I thought, there was a table out there, specifying the optimal sizes for each item, but I couldn't find anything!

It would be great, getting some useful infos,

cheers!

I think you will find that most of the images are dynamically created to fill the sizes of the site as per your design.

So for a specific site that you have exported from Artisteer, just look at the images it created, and work with those sizes for your replacements...

I don't see how this suggestion works. First of all I can only insert Top Left, Top Center, or Tile. There is no Fill option which is being dynamically done with many of the raw images for background (particularly texture. I agree with ChillFreak it would be nice to know that the suggested background sizes are.

Yeah, Dave, just a second I also considered that option. But this would be a very unprofessional and a very inconvenient way to build websites - what I'm, looking form, because its cave man work! Further, if you use exactly the size as the stretched image, the quality of the graphic would suffer, because of the amount of the provided pixels. What I want to say is, that I think, that all images they're stretchable in a template have their specific values. So, when I do so, as Dave is suggesting, I definitively will mess up the quality of my graphics, what I really want avoid. Further it would be nice, later on I could constribute some of my work, so everyone could use them. Hm, and I don't think, that they all want to use the same standart size, than me, hu? So I hope, there's someone competent out there, who is able to give me that simple answer. Otherwise I will keep going with sidegrinder! Much more flexible for graphic designs on website building. But artisteer is much more flexible for its transparancies , and I really like that!!! But unfortunatly we can't have everything, hu?

Hi Guys,

I don't see how this is any different from any template/theme situation...

I see a nice theme on one of the free websites ( say opendesigns.org for example ). But the client has particular colour set in mind, so I change the colours via the css and modify or replace some or all of the images it comes with !

I don't see how that is unprofessional ?
Am I missing something...

Let's face it Artisteer does an amazing job and it is getting better all the time, but for $100 odd bucks it's never going to do everything...

You also might like to register a request with Artisteer via the support link on the left to get their feedback...

cheers Dave

The header size is set by you. you define the height and width in sheet.. If you are a graphic artist I really do not understand how you can not figure out an image size.

Besides the ability to set your own size for the header it is helpful to know that the sideboxes are a set width. Just do a screen shot and cut out the sidebox header and see what size it is. Not a big deal.

Oop's. Header width and height is set in header not sheet.

Hey Jeffk, If you read back he conversation from the beginning, reading an image size was never the subject of this conversation, but a list of suggested image sizes from the Artisteer developer. So no reason for hard feeling, and hopefully this made it more clear to you :-P?

And Dave, the price was never a question, but the option to include own graphic elements should be considered from the beginning, since a lot of webdesigners prefer to create their own unique style;-)!

Ok, don't bother! I already decided to stay with SiteGrinder ;)!

So have a great day, and thanx for your effort!

SiteGrinder? Yeah sure, if you aren't creating templates for Joomla, Wordpress, DNN, etc etc

In all fairness if I wanted to output pure HTML from a PSD file I'd use slices and Dreamweaver...

Methinks this thread was just an ad for SiteGrinder TBH.
