Hi,

I want to buy Artisteer. I tried it and now i want to buy it. The Purchase site says: "Free upgrades for 1 year". But what after this year? Are there upgrade prices (like a discount or something?) Or does I have to pay the full price again?

Just checking. I'm loving Artisteer, i see regular & decent updates, so i think Artisteer will be growing biggggg...

gr, Matthijs

From the FAQ:

Quote :
What is your upgrade policy? Free product updates and upgrades for 1 year. Unlike many commercial software products that offer major upgrades every 2-3 years, our goal is to update Artisteer on ongoing basis (2-3 times a year) including minor fixes and any major new features we may finalize. We will be providing free product updates and upgrades for 1 year within the product level you purchase (Home or Standard, while in the future we may also offer a Professional version). After your free 1 year upgrade period expires you will be able to continue using Artisteer without further updates, or you may purchase another year of updates at any time. The upgrade pricing is currently projected at 50% of the product price or less. For example, if you purchase the Artisteer Standard Edition for $129.95, couple years later you may want to consider upgrading it to the latest features for an additional $65 or less (to be determined). Upgrades between version levels (Home to Standard) can be currently purchased at the price difference, however, this type of upgrade pricing is subject to change.

Cheers,

Benjamin :-D

If I don't want to use the upgrades because I don't use this product much it seems that I have to buy a update/upgrade otherwise the program doesn't run anymore even with the version I am content with. So if you buy it (in fact you don't buy but you buy a contract). If I buy a car than afther a year it don't stop running and I get a bill from the producer because he thinks I need a new model. So why is this.. I can understand this when you use a cloud version but software that is installed on your machine that stops and don't continue? strange

From the FAQ above: "....After your free 1 year upgrade period expires you will be able to continue using Artisteer without further updates, or you may purchase another year of updates at any time."

The post that this quote came from was 6 years ago. It's still in the current faq but there is a conflict in the news section (http://www.artisteer.com/?p=news). It states that it will only work in trail mode after upgrade period has ended."Please note that version 4.3 will work only in Trial mode if your free upgrade period has expired.
For more information on our upgrade policy please refer to our FAQ. You can check your upgrade subscription status here." It's weird how the faq and news section disagrees with each other, maybe support should comment on this.

On second thought - Maybe I'm getting mixed up with upgrade and update. Still I don't think it's entirely clear.

There is no conflict between texts.
"After your free 1 year upgrade period expires you will be able to continue using Artisteer without further updates, or you may purchase another year of updates at any time."

-This means that when "free upgrades period" expires, it is still possible to use versions that were released before. The versions/updates that are released after expiration date will load in a trial mode,

"It will only work in trail mode after upgrade period has ended."

- Any fresh version will load in a trial mode if "free upgrades period" has already expired for a specific license/user.

:-D

Not right that you are put on trial mode only when you have paid for at least a version of Artisteer. Effectively the software is on loan for one year and to "update" or "upgrade" you have to pay a discounted loan amount. They have deliberately avoided the word loan when in fact that's exactly what it is.
