Google Web Optimizer Script effecting css in Internet Explorer |

I'm trying to place the <script> </script> for google web optimizer into the top of the html page, above the <html> and doctype statement, and it makes my menu css fall apart in Internet Explorer, what would the fix be for this?
here is an example, it works fine in firefox:

The script has to be placed above the <html> line.

I have checked it in IE6 and it is working fine

I didn't follow the example in adwords this time, and just threw it above the </head> tag instead, it works fine now.
