People on the Concrete5 forums have ported themes from Wordpress and I'm sure ports of Artisteer themes wouldn't be terribly difficult, but it would be nice to have theme support built into Artisteer so extra work wouldn't be necessary.

Although concrete5 is very easy to use, it does not come close in competing with Wordpress, due to the fact that there are over 5000 plug-ins you can use, which makes WP way more powerful. That said, QuickerSite is even better, in all aspects compared to both of them. Don't get me wrong, concrete5 will do fine as a CMS for the casual user, but if you are a professional web developer, with concrete5, your websites functionality and looks will be very limited. Hey, at least it is free...

Why would Concrete5 not do something similar like I did for QuickerSite on http://www.qs2008.org/zip/index.htm

This took me 2 days to develop. Well, it was on a weekend, so it was between the hours I spent with wife and kids. So, it took only 5 hours in total I guess.

Nothing a Concrete5 developer cannot do. I guess.

To Nick: I offer concrete5 to my end users because it too offers a easy way to change and edit content.visually. It just lacks good THEMES !!

I would like to add my name to the list of people waiting for Concrete5 support. I have converted an Artisteer template for Concrete5 and for the most part it was fairly easy. The problem is that the IE7 fixes (and lower versions) don't seem to carry over for Concrete5. The template works great in IE 8 or any other browser that treats CSS properly, but it would be awesome to have the downward compatibility.

Please Aristeer team.....add Concrete5!

I have a fairly large WordPress Blog running and can easily add new templates that run perfectly from Artisteer. WordPress itself is very easy for computer challanged to use.

For the most part I am a designer only and have looked at both Concrete5 and QuickerSite is there some reason I seem to be missing to change to something other than wordpress?

The best CMS in the world to use is......the one you like. Everyone has their favorite. IT could be the one your second cousin's girlfriend uses. Or it is the one that just happens to have a specific plugin/module/widget that no one else has. Many casual user and others also only use the ones that are included in Fantistico in CPanel at the web hosting company that you use. That is because Fantistico will set up Drupal, Wordpress and a few others. Most of which Artisteer covers. What I did was try everyone of them till I found one that I thought was easy to use, had modules that did what I wanted and was intuitive for me. Find that one and stick with it till you learn it well.

Artisteer support for Concrete would be awesome.
Admitted, userbase is small compared to the big ones
but I expect Concrete to rapidly grow over next years.

Why pay for a CMS or modules, when there are at least a couple solutions that are FREE, Open Source AND have MANY modules/plugins that are also FREE and to boot, with LOTS of community support?! What am I talking about? Drupal and WordPress. I don't see the need for anything else. Dig into the code and you'll find you can do it.

There are other cms that is fairly easy to use with the Artisteer templates, my favorite besides WP is Website Baker, There you get it all, lots og plugin an addons, and very easy to combine different pagetypes, a very simple template system that lets you easy port the Artisteer template to use with Website Baker. It's free and have a great support forum.
The Pulse cms is also very useful, and take another approach to how to integrate with a html/css template, very easy to use also on existing sites made with html/css.
Free Webshop is another shop-cms where I use the Artisteer to make my templates.

concrete5 is not a commercial CMS. It's an open source, free , and easy to use CMS.

It's got in context editing and an interface that blows most of the rest out of the water. There are commercial plugins and free plugins, and the backend is cleanly and easily integrable with anything you want for your website.

Creating a template for concrete5 with Artisteer currently requires some search/replace edits in the content areas, and the usual cleaning up of artisteer templates (to reduce code size, and add custom javascript, and so on.)

I would love to see an exporter for concrete5 as well, this would make my business process much more streamlined.

Take your fight away from concrete5, if you would - there's no need to associate whatever grouching is happening here with an excellent, high quality, free and open source CMS.


For those involved in this discussion, please take a look at the videos related to managing c5 websites, editing, workflow, and theming - it's got everything!
