Apologies if this has been discussed already. I couldn't find the answer.
Is there a way to change the layout of the home page so that it looks different than the rest of the blog? I want it to look more like a website.
If so, can you be as specific as possible, please?

That all depends.
How well do you know Wordpress and it's capabilities?
Wordpress allows for a 'static' page to be the homepage instead of the blog. That is a setting in Wordpress under Settings/Reading
Once you have that set, Wordpress also allows you to create different page templates that can be used for any page you want to assign them to.
