Is it possible to create a magazine type layout using Artisteer? And when is the Artisteer 2.0 version to be officially released?

I am obviously not in my right mind this morning. When I made this post originally, for some reason obviously thought of title as, well, you can see what I was thinking. Anyway I just wanted to rectify this before someone else has an opportunity to read my post. Oh well, If you can't laugh at yourself you have no business laughing at anyone else.Right?

Hello Roderick S. Earnest,

That's ok, don't worry about the title.

Currently magazine type layouts are not supported. But Artisteer is constantly evolving so I believe many more features will be available in the future.

I think there is no official release date announced yet. But you can subscribe to announcements here:

Caroline.

I'm bumping this since I searched my issue rather than just posting it. I would love to see a magazine style layout option. Even a simple one to start with. I have a client who would prefer a mag-style to a regular wordpress style.

Kendra,

What do you mean by magazine style? I am unclear as to what that might look like.

Probably the most popular magazine theme is Branford Magazine. http://www.der-prinz.com/2008/01/25/wordpress-theme-im-magazin-stil-branfordmagazine-wordpress-magazine-style-theme-branfordmagazine/

I'd use it but it does not work in Explorer (the tabs script doesn't) and I don't know enough to make it work and still look good. A magazine theme places categories on the front page rather than a ladder post style of a regular wordpress theme. If Artisteer could create a magazine style theme I'd be ecstatic. :)

Kendra,

You could make the 'layout' of the site appear close to that kind of look anf feel, the problem is that it utlizies a LOT of code to make it work, meaning that they constructed pages with PHP code that specifically targets the last post made, categories, articles, etc. I't not just a design and Wordpress working together, it's a lot of custom work too.

A nice design too. I downloaded it to look at the custom code and some of the other things they do.

They really need to fix the site tho, it hung my IE7 browser, that's bad.

Design-wise I am close to a similar feel with Artisteer but don't know enough php to accomplish the rest. I took a look at the source of the tabs script to see if there was a more updated version I could use but even the source where der-prinz.com found it didn't work in IE. I'm finding that most don't but I'm still looking.

By the way, I really am enjoying Artisteer. I've always wanted to create wordpress themes and while I can create the graphics, I never was good with the coding. Thanks.
