Hello,

There are still a few things being discussed and changes expected, but we are finally finishing the Beta version of Artisteer 2.0 with valid HTML+CSS, Joomla and Drupal support, Typography features and more.

While we are still finalizing the Beta version and preparing an official email announcement for tomorrow, we wanted to already make the preliminary Beta version available today to our most loyal customers who browse these forums waiting for news every day :-)
Therefore here is your preliminary Beta download URL just for you:
http://www.artisteer.com/?p=download_v2beta
(currently English only)

We are especially interested in your initial impressions: what amazes you or confuses you during the first 10 minutes upon launching the new Artisteer. Please send your impressions directly to support@artisteer.com

(remember that all upgrades are free for 1 year so everyone will receive version 2.0 upon its release)

So far it looks great. Additional controls for content and blocks, background images, no hiccups. Additional header capabilities... plus Drupal and Joomla support

My initial response is that the UI is cleaner, seems to be stable. The one thing that bothers me is when you hover over a selection and the page redraws, that can be a little weird sometimes, especially when you don't think you've moused over something.

I downloaded Artisteer Beta 2

I like the custom background feature and the footer feature plus the icon feature for the subscribe button.

I really like the "Suggest" features under Ideas for all the design elements and the icons for the blocks.

I like the NEW Article Features.

Everything appears to be working smoothly.

Under the Web Templates I like all the changes and the same features for being able to suggest layouts.

:-)Would like to see an option to remove the column section for " Support, Development, Strategy" This section is not always needed.

I did not notice an allowence for a Vertical Menus or Blogger templates.

We are close to going beta with WebfontZ = any TTF/OTF font, on any website, on any server, in any browser. This is a non-flash Dynamic Font Rendering software developed by Remon Lammers.

You can view its features at http://studio.webfontz.com

We would be interested in discussing bundling WebfontZ with Artisteer in a next version.

Please contact me back to discuss.

Absolutely awesome but some work needed.

Baffled by Debbie: "Would like to see an option to remove the column section for " Support, Development, Strategy" This section is not always needed." What section where? I've never seen it.

Caz-daz - my .artx file made in v 1.0 opened in "compatablity mode." Modified and saved it; then would not open in v. 1.0

Lester, Debbie is probably referring to the sample content that we include in Website templates.

caz-daz, could you please email couple sample Artisteer projects that you cannot open to support@artisteer.com

Thank you,

First impression?......... IMPRESSED :-)

Nice work, Artisteer. Well worth the wait.

Had some crashes though, sent the error report files your way.

Cheers,
Hasso

P.S. Is there any way to design (with a 3rd party product) one's own glares, backgrounds and stuff and add them to the library? Or has that question already been asked on an other thread.

Wow...this is totally awesome and I thought 1.0 was great. I can't wait until 2.0 officially comes out so I can use it exclusively. I feel like I have even more control over my template.

Thanks for sharing the beta with us!

@ Lester ........ yeah most of mine open in compatabillity
mode... just the odd few that wont....... and since this
is a beta version when saving them you should
save them as mytheme-beta
and it keeps your v1 theme as it is....

@ artisteer .... sent email with screenshot of error
and 2 theme artx files that wont open...

the error does not give an option to send error details
so just attached an image of the error in the email......

Wow!

Artisteer just rocks :-D

I have just installed the beta version and first impression is it looks great.

Most of the new features that I noticed have already been commented on above so I'll skip them.

With regard to Joomla, do you intend to add in more features later, like adding in module suffixes, adding positions etc., or will these need to be handled externally in the CSS , PHP, XML files?

Finally, I just have to say that Artisteer was without a doubt, one of the best discoveries I made online in 2008!

Has anyone else experienced this with the update using WordPress7(tested on several sites)...no preview image in activate theme window when switching themes and W3C CSS Vadlidator results yield: file not found:http;//www.mywebaddress/wp-content/themes/Artisteer Export/style.css: Not Found...other than that no other problems so far with the program. Very impressive features update.

just downloaded and opened this lovely piece of art...
initial feedback....i liked the fixed background feature and the transparency option on the pages. but i noticed fixed background works only use Artistic 1st design (menu>background) if other backgr\ounds are selected they move up with page scroll.
more feedback will come...let me dig the thing ! :-)

One small bug found!

When creating a Joomla template, if I try to delete the 'Slogan text' from the header, this causes Artisteer to crash.

I have emailed the error report.

Hi All,

Thanks everyone for your initial feedback, both here on the forums and submitted via email. Several users reported a few crashes that we'd like to resolve before sending an email announcement about v2.0 Beta, thus the announcement will be sent within the next day or two.

Please send all technical issues and questions to support@artisteer.com (Skullptor, Prosenjeet), as we may need to ask you additional questions or request your project.

Hi skullptor,

I've just had a little chance to play with the new Joomla template creator, you're right, the position for the horizontal menu is user3, and you also need to go to:

Extensions >
Module Manager >
click on Main Menu >
and then under Menu Style in the right panel >
select Lagacy-Flat List.

Hope that helps!

Dave

With Joomla templates, if you need to remove the Headline, and Slogan text, just remove the logo div from the index.php. In my case this was around line 37

I don't know if it is just me, but in the Joomla section, the 'Size' option for the H1 tag (haven't tried any others) under Headings in Articles, doesn't seem to work. Even though I reduced the size, it still comes out at the default size on my live site.

Well Done Guys you have done wonders with the product from VS 1.0 and I thought vs 1.0 was pretty amaizing...

So hasnt fallen over yet....
What I like are the following:

* Footer Options and RSS Icon very kewl little addition.
* Block Heading Icons nice little addition like.
* Ability to bring in a image as the background for the header nice, versus 20/80 split.

Are you still Parsing a PNG and JPG, as this doesnt help Image rotators that are becoming popular.

* Font options and Typography, Man this so helpful!
* Articles section is a great addition, I really like the functionality here!

All I could find so far as something not quiet right is Header 2 Fonts size is doing some strange things...
