Now, I was not planning to comment in this way, but I am disappointed with the support team. Many of us have bought this software looking into the promise that in future this product will to be able to develop Joomla! themes.
I am not complaining that the update isn't up yet..but it is really sad to note no one from the Artisteer team is giving the customers a feedback as to the status of the launch (when the official launch date of 31`/12/2008 has already passed...as per my local time).
Do you think people who plan to buy your product don't read the forum posts before buying?...and do you think, all these messages about the Joomla updates will encourage them to buy the product??...Think twice! :-@
Best wishes!

Well,

To answer your question: I'll be waiting untill I see some 'movement' here.. I was going to buy the standard version, but I'm going to wait until more news is coming about Joomla/'Drupal support, because I think $149 is very expensive if the software doesn't support more CMS systems.

It is likely that some people on the team want to address the issue of the Joomla! update but were overridden by higher-ups. Artisteer's stony silence in the face of the high interest expressed in the forums is a management decision. which reflects a horrible picture. The company won't talk to a generally supportive customer base. That's a very bad sign. Artisteer, you're losing support in the fan club, and a lot faster than you think.

I dont mean it but...
This is a situation when the customer feels disheartened and the first choice that comes is- give away the serial of the product to a warez site! lol
I sincerely hope this doesn't happen in the case of Artisteer. :-|

Gee -- you'd think that JOOMLA templates and layouts could not have been created BEFORE Artisteer!!! If you look at JOOMLA templates, you will see there would have to be considerable work to create a program to automatically crank out a template, etc. etc.

Personally, I think there is TOO MUCH FUSS and overthinking as to the "whys" that the JOOMLA plugin to Artisteer wasn't released precisely at the stroke of midnight 12/31/2008.

My preference is for the developmen team to take the time needed to put the product into release that is fully functional.

I'd hate to hear the complaints if the product was released and it didn't work properly - you'd have the product and it wouldn't work and the complaints would exceed those regarding the missed deadline.

To the Artisteer Team: Release the product when its ready and not before.

Finally, a voice of reason!

I have confidence that Artisteer is working hard to get this code done and tested properly before releasing it.

No one has asked for an incomplete or shoddy product, which is of course a far cry from a beta version that some people have expressed interest in.

Quite a few people have asked for status reports. Stony silence in the face of the high interest and numerous queries is unreasonable and inexcusable. Do they have to speak? Certainly not, but it might help when they are building a customer base for a new product. :-)

Has anyone noticed that Artisteer very rarely comes to this forum?

I'mnot saying it is good or bad, but this forum runs on the help of volunteers.

Forums and tech support are a nightmare for any software company. I've run my share of them... and just because a customer says "it has to do this!" doesn't mean it will translate to a feature.

While this is a stand-alone product, the themes it creates do not function in a stand alone capacity. The size and complexity of current CMS systems (open source ones to boot) all contribute to the development of a product like this.

Unfortunately, the people who scream theloudest about needing something for one of these CMS systemsare usually the ones who least understand the technology... and are looking for crutches to manage what they can't (or refuse) to learn.

If anyone has constructed a theme for Joomla, Xoops, CRE, Drupal, Wordpress, OSC or a number of open source tools, I would wager they would not be as quick to complain about the time it is taking to get the features into Artisteer.

Of course, those who need immediate templates can certain go to Template Monster and buy one template, struggle with editing it and modifying it... and all for the same price as the Artisteer package.

And if anyone made promises to a customer or made plans based on a release date of the feature, then shame on them. Software development usually doesn't conform to the customers schedule but to the issues that need to be fixed before it is released.

Hey! I have been reading all the posts the members made regarding Joomla update. I didnt see anyone asking to hasten the things and launch a dump product. They all (including me) were crying for any info regarding the update. The owner of the company should respond, if not possible, should depute someone for such major announcements. Look, people invest their hard earned money for the standard edition in hope that the Joomla edition will be coming soon and they have full right to be inquisitive...that too when a date was given...why we have to ask for comments when they should come on their own. I have used apps from many companies (much bigger and maybe more busier) and Im sorry to say, the role of the Admin here cant be matched with them.
Anyways, lets see whats coming! O:)

Anyway,

After the news update I decided to buy the standard version. I now have confidence that Artisteer will be updated in the coming weeks!
BTW it's a great product already, I just said that $149 (after the introduction price) is a bit high if you would not be able to build templates for different products.. that's all!

Cheers, and a very happy 2009!
